Hi Prepper,

Don’t you feel safer when you know where your preps are? After all, the faster you can get to what you need, the more secure you’ll be no matter what the situation.

But it’s hard! Right?

You work hard to maintain a surplus of what you need! And for good reason! But because you have extra, you need to be organized and intentional about what you use. Ultimately, you can have all the preps in the world, but if you can’t find what you need or worse yet, if you have something that is so old it’s not useful anymore, then you’re not really prepared.

Your safety and your family’s safety really might depend on you knowing what you have and what you need. You have the foresight and the knowledge to acquire preps, but are they organized?

Do you know how many cans or jars of green beans you have? How far are you from having a three month supply? A six month supply? A year supply?

Can you instantly figure out how many jars of green beans you can consume over three months and still have a year’s supply? How much will you need to replenish your supply?

My name is Jennifer Osuch. I’m the author of the Preparedness Planner Series, and I’m also one of the lead teachers at Self Reliant School–where my husband and I teach preserving, cooking and gardening skills.

I’ve been prepping for over 20 years, but I’ve had my share of wasted preps and money spent on the wrong preps. I remember when I was a young mother thinking how handy baby wipes were and that they were a great prep. So I would tuck some away every month, but because I didn’t have a rotation system by the time I got around to using some of the stored wipes they were all dried out.

Then I remember another time when my husband was about to lose his job I decided to stock up on pinto beans with some of the last dollars I would have in my prepping budget. But because I had not labeled and kept track of my five gallon buckets I wound up with two extra buckets of pinto beans. That money could have been used to buy much needed wheat berries so that I could make bread during a hardship I knew was coming.

After that I started keeping track of everything I had in my storage, but it was a mess. Tally marks here, expiration dates listed there, bulk items listed on the same page as canned goods. It took me hours to sort through everything before I made a purchase.

But I never “wasted” money on preps I didn’t need again! I knew keeping track was the solution.

So I began to play around with different systems to design one that would work. I designed the Preparedness Planner and Record Keeper for busy people who want to be prepared but don’t want organizing their preps to take over their life.

Did you know that many dry foods will last well past their expiration dates if stored properly?

Wheat berries, white rice, dried beans, sugar and salt can last well past five years if stored properly.

All preparedness levels are welcome…..

The Preparedness Planner & Record Keeper is for those that need a place to record their food storage inventory and begin building up a three month supply, as well as those preppers who have food stores but would like a way to take inventory and easy rotate what they have on hand and know where they need to build up their supply.

Keep track of ALL your preps...

Inside you will find

  • All the forms you'll need to keep track of ALL your preps.
  • The Preparedness Planner & Record Keeper is completely flexible, you print out the pages that pertain to the things you want to store and track.
  • Since food storage is often the most complicated part of prepping, there is a system to build up your food storage. Build your food supply by planning out one month’s worth of meals and multiplying by three.
  • Use the 1-3 month food storage worksheet to help build a shopping list.
  • Then start using the balance sheet (the core of the Preparedness Planner) to keep track of your food rotation.
  • Start with any month of the year and set goals.
  • The food storage section also includes an inventory sheet. This sheet will allow you to build a food storage quickly without worrying about rotation. Once you have a good stockpile then you can move to using the balance sheet to keep track of rotation and replenishing.
  • Expiration date sheets are included for keeping track of expiration dates throughout your food storage.
  • You can even keep track of food items that don’t do well in food storage but will keep in the freezer.
  • Document when you last rotated your water supply
  • Keep track of when you changed out your bug-out bag gear depending on the season
  • Even keep track of the seeds you are saving from your garden year after year
  • Make sure you have enough food and supplies for your pets and/or small livestock
  • Record important documents and passwords
  • Inventory your medical supplies and keep track of consumables
  • Manage all your toiletry and cleaning preps
  • Extensive lists that suggest items to place in storage
  • Great for people just starting to build their preps

Printable Checklists: I also loved having the printable checklist for our emergency bags because I could quickly print it out, inventory our packs, and make notations on what we need next at the same time I was rotating stock. I then hand off that sheet to my husband, and it’s his responsibility to stock or restock as needed. That’s his area.

The Preparedness Planner is an excellent tool for keeping your preps under control. There are essentially two components to the planner. First, there are lists on top of lists of things you may wish to have on hand in case of emergencies. Honestly, I don’t know that I’ve ever seen such a comprehensive list of food storage, bug out bag components, and other supplies. I’d be willing to bet you’ll see at least a few things you’d not thought of before.

From top to bottom, the Preparedness Planner & Record Keeper is one of the best preparedness planners I have ever seen. It’s thorough, insightful, easy to use and allows the reader to ‘morph’ his approach while still using the record keeping tools provided. What I liked most about this planner was that it wasn’t preaching. People in this niche can sometimes tend to be a bit, well, let’s just say dominant in the way they approach these kinds of documents. Jennifer keeps a pretty neutral tone and very often tells the reader that this approach is what works for her but that they should feel free to change it as they see fit.
